The Meaning of the Slope on a PT Graph
On a PT Graph the slope represents the displacement / distance travelled over the time it took to travel.
EX: the velocity (m/s)
EX: If a car is moving rightward and this data is shown, what would be the velocity of the car?
displacement (m) | time (s) |
0 | 0 |
+10 | 1 |
+20 | 2 |
+30 | 3 |
+40 | 4 |
Formula for Slope:
Rise / Run OR change in Y / change in X
To determine the slope of a line, you must pick two points!
If an object is not moving, it is said to be "at rest".
